Thomas's Story (age 8)
Saturday
I'm really excited, I'm on the plane now and I'll be landing soon.
Now I've landed in Venice, it's 9.00 pm Venice time, 8.00 pm English time.
Sunday
We stayed in the Holiday Inn, it was very clean and Mum and Dad had a huge king size bed. We have just been in a shuttle bus to get to Venice Island.
I'm now in a queue to get on the ship and luckily we were the first group to get on the ship because Mum did online Express Check In.
Yesssss! We're finally on the ship. Our cabin is quite big, it has a huge balcony! Rumble, rumble, gosh I'm starving!
Mmmmm. My proscuitto ham and melon look yummy! My soup is nearly here and after that I'm going to have fish with broccoli and carrots. We are eating in Le Maxim's which I think is a bit nicer than L'Oleandro.
Monday
We arrived in Bari at 12.00 o'clock lunch time. We got a trip on a road train to a castle and some old churches. I'm about to get changed into my casual clothes for tonight.
Tuesday
Corfu. Today we had to get up early because we have arrived in Corfu, but we leave at 1.30 pm. As soon as we were in Corfu we started shopping, there was lots of quaint little alleyways and shops selling sponges, wood hand carved things and even small wooden guitars. I wanted to buy a wooded chess set.
It's nearly time to get back on board now so we are heading back to the ship.
Yipee! It's formal night tonight. I liked Corfu before, but I'm excited to dress up all smart now.
Wednesday
Santorini. Next up is Santorini. Instead of getting a shuttle bus to the place we wanted we had to get a life-boat there. We were sailing in a flooded volcano! When we got off the life-boat we had to queue for about half an hour to get a cable car. There were donkeys everywhere! Finally when we got on the cable car, Nana held Grandad's hand very tight and nearly broke it!
When we got to the top it was like a modern Corfu. Because we were in Greece we saw lots of mythical creatures (well, models of them!) We had to be back onboard for 1.30 pm - we were going to Mykonos soon.
Mykonos. We are on the way to Mykonos now and my sister is having a nap so she can stay up tonight. I thought I would write my diary for now.
When we got to Mykonos we got a shuttle bus to a little beach. The beach was quite rocky, but the water was very clear. If you wanted a bite to eat, there are lots of restaurants. We went to a little bar and had some crepes. Yummy!
Thursday
Athens/Piraeus. Today we got a taxi to some places like the Temple of Zeus, the Acropolis and where the first Modern Olympic Games were held. We got a lot of great views of the Acropolis. It was funny watching the changing of the guard because they lifted their legs up really high and then stamped them on the floor!
Now I'm back on the ship and I'm going to have a game of mini-golf with my Dad. Sadly I lost the first game by two holes and the second game by one.
I'm by the pool now and I've had a really nice ice cream. The best I have ever had! The entertainment team asked if anyone wanted to play a game where there were some chairs lined up in a row. You had to sit on the front chair and roll the ball all the way out to the end chair and I won!!
Friday
Katakolon. Today we got off the ship and we didn't need any kind of transport to help us to get to the town. When we got off the cruise ship, we walked out of the port and Norwegian Jade was docked next to us. We walked up the main street and there were lots of shops. We then found a place to eat and have something to drink which was right on the edge of the harbour. There was a fishing boat right by us and behind that was Norwegian Jade. After that we carried on walking and we saw a park and people playing football, so we went and had a play whilst Mum and Dad read the paper and talked with Nana and Grandad. On the way back to the ship Dad bought me a chess set, it had lots of Greek Gods as the pieces, and pawns were warriors! Once we got back onto the ship we got ready for our second formal night.
Saturday
Dubrovnik. Our final port of call.
